Suzan Campbell, a Pacific Northwest native, started her art exploration journey as a beadweaver over 20 years ago. Beginning on small, commercial bead looms, her ideas quickly took off and led her to making her own large loom as well as creating off loom techniques. She furthered her curiosity by exploring additional techniques, color theory, and design with a native Alaskan textile and beadweaver mentor.
Her beadwork has been displayed in Alaska (Fairbanks and Prince of Wales Island), and she has crafted several commissioned pieces.
More recently, Suzan has embarked on a fiber arts study with a rigid heddle and eight shaft jack looms. Once again, her ideas have led her to explore off the loom and incorporate her love of the natural world. She enjoys collaborating with other artists because the expansive infusion of ideas creates lush textures and truly one-of-a-kind pieces.
Her textile and beadwork have sold at farmers’ markets, studios and galleries in Alaska and Washington.
She currently lives in Hoquiam, Washington, with her blacksmith husband.
Suzan will be showing at South Beach Arts Association in Westport.
