Donn Angel taught himself to draw during the COVID-19 lock-down just for something to pass the time. He finally screwed up the courage and showed his graphite work for the first time in the summer of 2021. Mr. Angel didn't expect much for his introductory example with graphite pencil illustrations, but to his surprise it was well received. Donn eventually graduated to fully resolved colored pencil compositions by the staunch suggestion of his beloved fiancé & artistic muse Karri Wood, and has been showing & selling his colored pencil illustrations publicly ever since.

When asked about what inspires his work, Donn replied that Rod Sterling loved to tell eerie yet ironic tales about situations that 'could be', with lessons in ethics and morals to leave the viewer with.. Donn says “I love to show the audience viewing my work that those dark lessons can be condensed into a single frame of time: a drawing that tells the whole story, or leaves the viewer with a sense of wanting to look further at the piece”. Titles are a important tie-in to his work he adds.

Donn Angel lives in Hoquiam, but will be showing at Whisperwood Custom Framing Gallery in Montesano.
